Adria Twin Supreme to Morocco

Adria Twin Supreme to Morocco

That you can't leave the continent with an RV? Many, like Nicole Günther and her family, are not afraid to take their homes on wheels to the most remote places. Together with their model Twin, they embarked on an adventurous journey from Germany to exotic Morocco, sharing their experiences continuously on their blog donventure.de. Their boundless faith in their motorhome is confirmed by the fact that they set off for Morocco in the middle of a hot summer. In an article for Adria Mobil, the family describes Morocco as a country full of contrasts - from the breathtaking dunes of the Sahara to the vibrant markets of Marrakech.

Our faithful companion: the Adria Twin Supreme SGX

We've been driving the Adria Twin Supreme SGX for 4 years now and it's been our trusty companion. The car is much more than just a means of transport for us - it is our second home. What we love about the Twin is its manoeuvrability, which allows us to go to even the most backward corners. We have absolute freedom and can camp under the starry desert sky without compromising on comfort. The amenities of our motorhome include an integrated kitchen and a comfortable bed, allowing us to discover the beauty of Morocco in complete comfort and at our own pace."

We have a dry toilet in the built-in, which also gives us independence while doing no harm to the fragile ecosystem in Morocco's remote areas, where waste disposal facilities are often lacking. This technology also significantly reduces our water consumption, which is really practical in a country where water is a scarce resource during the summer months. Our experience with the Adria Twin Supreme SGX has confirmed our belief that it is the ideal partner for all our adventures. It provides us not only with safety, but also with comfort and a sense of home.

Morocco - a van adventure under the Maghreb sun

Morocco is incredible, offering new adventures every day. As we cross the majestic peaks of the Atlas Mountains, it seems we almost touch the sky. In the oases, we find not only tranquillity but also a refreshing retreat. We drive through the dirt roads of Morocco, where Twin reliably handles all the pitfalls and safely accompanies us on our way to more exciting experiences. Our journey through this land of contrasts, a dance of sun and shadows of the Maghreb holds a wealth of magic and mystery. Every day here brings discovering the unknown and overcoming our own boundaries.

We are stuck in the desert sands

Our journey heads south to the gateway of the Sahara, M'Hamid. Here we are treated to a view of the endless desert that awakens a sense of humility and an awareness of our own smallness. We do not underestimate the hot North African summer, when temperatures are high and the sun burns mercilessly. But our built-in Twin is a reliable companion. It handles steep passages, narrow streets of bustling towns and sand dunes ahead of us with aplomb.

"The rocky ground becomes more and more sandy and suddenly the wheels get stuck. The thermometer now reads 48 degrees Celsius. We get out of the car. The ground is like a hot wall that we're crashing into. The engine is running, so the air conditioning is cooling the interior. Daniel brings a sand tray and a shovel from the roof. The tires dig into the ground on the second try... The mobile has switched off, and the heat is making it impossible to switch on. The shovel handle is hot. The sand also ..." One more try and the Twin is going again!

Morocco: a mosaic of colours and stories

On a journey through Morocco's diverse landscapes and historical gems, every corner tells its own unique story. From breathtaking gorges and waterfalls to magical sand dunes. With every passing kilometer, Morocco unfolds its immense beauty before us. On our journey we see stunning natural scenery, immerse ourselves in the richness of local culture and history, and wander the intricate market streets of the royal cities. In our motorhome, we experience an exhilarating journey as views of valleys awash with lush greenery in varying hues alternately emerge and disappear in serpentine curves. Along the way we encounter stalls full of traditional Moroccan pottery and souvenirs, handmade from the leaves of local dwarf palm trees. Here we meet Riffian peasant women wearing straw hats decorated with colourful woolen balls, representing the traditional lifestyle of the people of the area. Suddenly the city of iconic blue colours appears before us, adding to our impression of the journey, we have arrived in Fes.

The forgotten corners of Morocco

In the Moroccan hills, shrouded by a mysterious forest, we come across a forgotten place where time is disturbed only by the whisper of the forests. Nature embraces this place with extraordinary elegance. Green peaks spread out around us, we breathe deliciously fresh air, and the infinite blue sky stretches above us.

We are standing in front of an abandoned building that is a kind of island of melancholy in the midst of a sea of green and that hides stories of days long gone. Its rotten beams creak under the weight of all those years and the whisper of the wind penetrates through the cracks in the skylights. The eight-story complex, once set up by the French colonial health administration as a tuberculosis treatment facility, now stands completely abandoned. This building in Ben Smim, which has witnessed the treatment of many patients, now looks like a neglected relic, slowly dismantled by the ravages of time.

Our journey continues at the ruins of Volubilis. These ruins once pulsed with life and were the centre of the Roman Empire. We touch the ancient stones and feel the past mingle with the present. Volubilis, this ancient ruin, served as a source of building material for the city of Fes. Using Roman remains, the Berbers have created an authentic architecture in Fez. Weaving through the narrow streets, the lively bustle of shops and bazaars gives us an unforgettable experience. All this is brought to life by our guide Wafi, who enthusiastically guides us through the city.

Our experiences in Morocco were so powerful that we decided to share them in the book "Morocco - to the horizon and beyond". The book is full of stories and personal insights, and is accompanied by photographs that document our journey while encouraging us to leave our comfort zone and explore unknown landscapes.

With our Adria Twin Supreme SGX motorhome, our journeys are more than just an escape from everyday life; they become opportunities for personal growth, overcoming challenges and discovering the beauty of the world. Every journey is an adventure in discovering new paths and worlds, which we embrace with open hearts and eyes as a family.
