Small caravans for big adventures

Many users prefer small caravans to large ones - those with a short and compact outer length and sleeping space for 2-4 people. Compared to large caravans, they can score with a number of advantages.
1. Weight
Small caravans simply weigh less than large caravans. Not only can they be towed by almost any vehicle, but they also handle slopes better.
In addition, the fuel consumption of the towing vehicle is also lower - the less you need to tow, the less power you need to expend. And that's not only good for the wallet, it also means a plus point in terms of sustainability and environmental protection.
We are still on the subject of weight, and now with regard to the engine variants of towing vehicles: for electric vehicles, lightweight caravans are often the only alternative at present, as the towing load here is usually lower than for vehicles with internal combustion engines.
2. Driving licence group
The weight also determines which driving licence you need. If you have a Group B licence, you can only drive with a total weight of 3.5 tonnes. So the caravan and towing vehicle together must stay under this maximum weight. For small Adria caravans, which have a maximum permissible gross weight of 1,000 to 1,300 kg, a standard driving licence may be sufficient with a suitable towing vehicle.
3. Caravan dimensions
There is always room for a small caravan. Whether on a plot or on a campsite, and preferably in the first row overlooking the sea or a beautiful view of a lake or mountain panorama. The same goes for parking at home or a place to store it over the winter. And if you do need a little more living space on holiday: with an awning you can quickly build up another room.
Small and compact caravans also score extra points when it comes to manoeuvring and handling; towing and parking caravans are easier compared to large and long caravans.
4. Caravan purchase costs
When buying a small caravan, the purchase cost is lower. This is ideal, for example, for newcomers who are just discovering the convenience of camping.
At Adria, small caravans are mainly represented by the Action model. With its distinctive exterior shape, efficient space management and modern interior design, it has become a caravan that has a huge fan base. With an external length of between 523 and 610 cm (depending on the layout), all Action models fall into the category of mini caravans. With a permissible gross weight of 1,300 kg, Action caravans can be towed by most towing vehicles.
The Aviva and Altea ranges may also be attractive to many who are considering buying a small and compact caravan. The Aviva 360 DD, 360 DK and 400 PS models, for example, score points not only for their 553 or 596 cm outer length, but also for their small width: at 209 cm, they are considerably slimmer than the larger caravan models. In the Altea range, the smallest model, the 4 Four 362 LH, has an external length of 570 cm and the 402 PH is equal to the largest Action model at 610 cm. Be sure to check out the Aviva Lite, which is new for 2023.
