Although it may not seem like it, winter is a great time of year to travel by caravan or motorhome. In winter, there are far fewer tourists everywhere, so all the tourist attractions will be a bit chilly, but they won't be packed to bursting. The adventures certainly don't stop there, as winter is the perfect time to indulge in winter sports, browse the Christmas markets or simply escape everyday reality.
However, if you're going to be travelling in colder weather, you need to make sure your motorhome is habitable, whatever the temperature outside. Fortunately, each of Adria's motorhomes and caravans are designed for year-round use. All Adria motorhomes are characterized by their practical interior layout, which is very convenient in winter when you need to carry more things (warm clothes, winter outdoor gear, etc.). A must-have is, of course, the independent heating, which all Adria motorhomes, whether basic or optional, have.
Adria Thermo-build
Our motorhomes are built to Adria "thermo-build" standards, making them suitable for year-round use. Adria uses advanced insulation materials, the vans have a precision-engineered heating design and the Adria Air Flow system for ventilation and optimal air circulation, cooling and heating. All vehicles are tested in our own climate chamber between -25 and +60 degrees and at humidity levels of 45% to 80% between +30 and +60 degrees. Comfort in warmer conditions is ensured by good ventilation, integrated shading, screens and thermal shading in the panoramic windows.
Heat from the floor
Nobody likes to be cold. All Adria vehicles are optimally designed with a heating solution that ensures a warm and cosy interior. You can further enhance your heating system with underfloor heating, which is included as standard in some ranges and available as an option in many others
Keeping warm
Most Adria cars offer Alde or Truma heating systems. Both options have their advantages and both can be powered by LPG and/or electricity. Diesel heating is also available on selected Twin motorhome models on request. If you are planning winter trips, choose the solution that best suits your lifestyle.
Alde or Truma heating?
Alde central heating was developed in Sweden - and the Swedes know a thing or two about keeping warm during harsh winters. The radiator system gently, quietly yet effectively heats the entire vehicle without drying out the air. Alde also offers complete integration of underfloor heating.
The advantage of the Truma system, which operates on a blown air system, is its quick warm-up and ease of operation. Simply adjust the air outlets and direct the heat exactly where you want it. On selected Adria models, you can also choose electric underfloor heating
Weather protection
Once you've created the heat, all that's left to do is keep it inside. The walls are lined with ThermoBuild insulation, which ensures heat retention and optimal airflow control. The interior will be comfortable, with no cold spots, no condensation and minimal heat loss.
It is now clear that in all Adria motorhomes and caravans you can spend time comfortably even in winter. The biggest winter favourites are the Adria Matrix Supreme and the Adria Twin Supreme, both of which are particularly popular with winter sports enthusiasts. Of the caravans, it's the Adria Alpina that's the bestseller in Scandinavia.
