The Dolomites and Lake Garda
The rocky peaks of the Dolomites and the warm water of Lake Garda in one journey—a classic Italian combination of mountains and relaxation by the water. The lake is 749 kilometres from the Příbram branch, followed only by short drives between campsites. Four days in which you swap summits for the beach and then back again.
The drive from the Příbram branch takes you all the way to the lakeshore; on tolled sections, expect a higher class according to the number of axles. Spend the first night at Camping Bavaria, which has full facilities including waste disposal, water, electricity and showers, so you can service the vehicle straight away.
The second day belongs to the lake, its warm water and walks along the shore. Individual municipalities regulate wild camping in Italy, and it is often restricted on the coast and in town centres, so it is worth staying at Camping Al Lago directly by the water.
On the third day, leave the lake and climb higher into the rocky massifs of the Dolomites, where the landscape suddenly changes to sharp peaks and mountain valleys. Area Sosta Camper Brione, with waste disposal, water and showers, is a suitable overnight stop and a typical Italian area di sosta for motorhomes.
Keep one more morning in the mountains for the final day, then slowly prepare the vehicle for departure. Before the journey home, you can use the facilities at Camping Garda, which has electricity, recharge and set off north again.
