Tuscany: Wine and Stone Towns
Florence on the River Arno became the cradle of the Renaissance in the 15th century and the heart of Tuscany's wine country, dotted with stone towns. It is almost a thousand kilometres from the Hodonín branch, so set aside the first day of the four-day wine and art circuit for an unhurried drive across the Alps.
After a day behind the wheel, arrive from the Hodonín branch in a region that underwent a great cultural flourishing under the rule of the Medici family. In Italy, sosta libera is possible only under the rules of individual municipalities and is often restricted on the coast and in town centres, while aree di sosta are plentiful. Florence Park Scandicci, with electricity, is a good first base.
Devote the day to the regional capital on the River Arno, which was the centre of a powerful city republic in the Middle Ages. The historic centre is inaccessible to motorhomes, so leave the vehicle at the campsite and travel into the centre on foot or by public transport. Firenze Camping in Town offers convenient facilities in the city, including waste disposal, electricity and showers.
The third day belongs to a wine-country circuit through Tuscany's stone towns, befitting a region that flourished under the Duchy of Florence. Between drives, Parcheggio Gelsomino is a useful stop with waste disposal available. Remember that tolls for Italian vehicles above the limit are calculated according to the number of axles.
In the morning, enjoy one last stop among the stone-paved lanes before setting off back across the Alps. Firenze Rifredi Flog, closer to the city, can also serve as an overnight stop before the journey. Refill your water and empty the tanks at one of the waste-disposal points before leaving, so the journey home is trouble-free.
A higher toll class applies according to the number of axles.

Sosta libera depends on the municipality; it is restricted on the coast and in town centres. There are many aree di sosta.
Drinking water and waste disposal are available at nearby campsites or motorhome stopovers.
Adria Matrix
For a four-day Tuscan circuit with nights at campsites outside inaccessible town centres, the Matrix is an ideal choice thanks to its generous self-sufficiency and facilities for the whole crew, making longer stays and drives between wine towns comfortable.
