Istria and Plitvice Lakes
The Istrian coast and the cascade of Plitvice Lakes—Croatia's most visited national park on the upper reaches of the Korana between the Mala Kapela and Plješevica limestone massifs—combined into one four-day journey. The sea and the lakes are a comfortable 653 kilometres from the Hodonín branch, leaving you time to enjoy both the coast and the interior without rushing. Wild camping is prohibited and subject to fines, but the network of campsites is exceptionally dense.
On the first day, travel from the Hodonín branch to the Istrian coast and settle into the rhythm of an Adriatic holiday. Park at a motorhome stopover with a water supply and gradually get used to the fact that wild camping is prohibited in Croatia and fines are enforced. An evening by the sea is the best reward for the journey.
The second day belongs to the Istrian coast and its coves, visited for the warm sea and tranquillity. Keep your base at the motorhome stopover with water and spend the day by the sea or walking along the coast. Thanks to the dense network of campsites, you can travel around Istria without worrying about where to park overnight.
On the third day, turn inland towards Plitvice Lakes, Croatia's most visited national park on the upper reaches of the Korana. Stay at the fully equipped BearCamp, which offers waste disposal, electricity and showers, allowing you to replenish and prepare the vehicle for the days ahead. By evening, you will be looking forward to a morning among the limestone massifs.
Devote the final day to the Plitvice Lakes system itself, between the Mala Kapela and Plješevica massifs, which attracts visitors from across the country. Camping Plitvice or Kamp Korana, both within easy reach of the park, provide alternative bases. Because wild camping is prohibited, plan to stay at a campsite and explore the park on foot along its wooden walkways.
A higher toll class applies according to vehicle height and number of axles.
